Unboxing Your DECT Phone
Your Yealink DECT package will include some or all of the following items depending on your model:
- DECT Base Station (W60B or W70B)
- Handset (W56H, W73H, W78H, W59R, or similar)
- Charging cradle for the handset
- Power adapter for charging cradle
- Ethernet cable
- Rechargeable battery (pre-installed or packaged separately)
Base Station Overview (W60B / W70B)
The DECT base station provides wireless communication between your handsets and the PENGUIN phone system.
Place the base station in a central area of your office for the best coverage.
Back Panel Connections
The back of the base station includes:
- LAN Port – Connects to your network (PoE optional)
- Power Port – Used only if no PoE is available
The base station should be positioned upright and in open space.
Avoid placing it in cabinets or behind large metal objects.
Connecting the Base Station to the Network
Method #1: Power over Ethernet (Preferred)
If your network equipment supports PoE, simply connect the Ethernet cable
from the base station to a PoE-capable switch or router.
The base station will power on automatically.
Method #2: Using the Power Adapter
If PoE is not available:
- Connect the Ethernet cable from the base station to your network
- Connect the power adapter to the base station’s power port

The Yealink W60B/W70B base station includes one multifunction button and three LED indicators. Use the diagram and descriptions below to understand each status.
- Paging Key –
Locates a misplaced handset.
Toggles registration mode.
Long-press resets the base station to factory settings.
Registration LED – Indicates base registration state.
- Fast flashing green – Paging mode (handset locator).
- Slow flashing green – Registration mode.
- Solid green – At least one handset is registered.
- Off – Base is powered off or no handsets registered.
Network Status LED – Indicates LAN connection.
- Slow flashing green – Network unavailable.
- Solid green – Network connected and active.
- Off – Base station does not have power.
Power Indicator LED – Shows power and firmware activity.
- Slow flashing green – Firmware upgrade in progress.
- Solid green – Base station is powered on.
- Off – Base station is powered off.
The cordless handset includes an LCD display, navigation keys, softkeys, and function buttons used for calling, menu navigation, and audio control. Refer to the diagram and numbered descriptions below.

- Earpiece – Outputs audio during standard handset calls.
Power Indicator LED – Displays alerts and power state.
- Fast flashing red – Incoming call.
- Slow flashing red – Missed call or voicemail waiting.
- Solid red – Battery charging.
- LCD Screen – Shows caller ID, softkeys, time/date, menu options, message indicators, and status icons.
- Softkeys – Context-sensitive options that change based on screen state.
- Message Key – Opens voicemail or the missed-call log.
- Speaker Key – Switches between earpiece, speakerphone, or headset. Answers incoming calls when ringing.
- Navigation Keys – Scroll menus. Adjust ringer volume when the handset is idle.
- OK Key – Confirms selections and opens the main menu.
- Power / End Key – Long-press to power the handset on/off.
Short-press ends calls or rejects an incoming call.
- Answer / Talk Key – Answers calls, initiates dialing, and opens the redial list.
- Keypad – Enters numbers, letters, and special characters.
- Transfer Key – Transfers active calls to another party.
- Mute Key – Enables or disables microphone mute.
- Microphone – Captures audio during calls.
- Speaker – Provides hands-free audio for speakerphone mode.
- 3.5mm Headset Jack – Connects a wired headset (standard 3.5mm).
Setting Up the Charging Cradle
Connect the included power adapter to the handset charging cradle, then place the handset into the cradle to begin charging.
Initial power-on may require 15–30 minutes of charging.

How Do I Know If My DECT Phone Is Working?
When your DECT handset is connected and registered:
- Signal bars appear on the handset screen
- The assigned extension displays on the screen
- The base station LED is solid green
