Setting Up Your Yealink Phone

Setting Up Your Yealink Phone

Unboxing

You will find these items in your phone packaging.

Attaching The Stand

For desktop use, the stand fits into slots to provide optimal viewing angle.

The T3 and T4 series phones do not have adjustable tilt screens. The image above illustrating the screen tilt is for a T5 series phone.

Connect The Handset

The handset will be connected  on the back of the phone to the indicated port below with the handset cord supplied.

Make sure the handset is plugged into the correct port as descrbed and illustrated above. Plugging the handset into the headset port will result in no audio.

Connecting The Optional Headset

For handsfree operation the optional headset  will be connected on the back of the phone to the indicated port below with the headset cord.

Connecting The Network

Connecting to the network will be completed in 1 of 2 ways:
  1. Wired network through the network port on the back of the phone
  2. Wireless USB network adapter, sometimes referred to as a "Wi-Fi dongle"

Method #1: Wired Network

The network will be connected on the back of the phone to the indicated port below with the network cable supplied.

The phone requires power for the phone to work. There are two options to provide power.

  1. Power supplied through network cable (the other end of of the cable will be plugged into a PoE compliant switch or hub
  2. Power supplied through a power adapter

Method #2: Wireless Network

When using the wireless networking adapter, follow the steps below:

  1.  Insert the Yealink Wi-Fi USB dongle into the USB port at the back of the phone. Skip this step for phones with built-in WiFi.
  2. You will be prompted to scan and connect to available wireless networks.
    1. Alternatively, you can do this manually by going to Menu > Settings > Basic Settings > Wi-Fi.
  3. Select Available Networks, and press OK.
  4. Select the desired wireless network and press Connect.
  5. Enter the password, and press OK.
Allow a few seconds for the phone to connect to your wireless network.

Passthrough Network Port

The network port marked as "PC" can be used to supply an additional network connection to another device requiring a network connection, such as a computer.

When the phone not is a powered and ready state (such as rebooting), note that the passthrough network connection is not active. Any device connected to this network port will not have network access during a phone reboot.
The passthrough network port does not supply PoE (Power over Ethernet), so should another phone be connected to the network through this port, that phone will require a power adapter. The power adapter is covered in the next section.

Connecting Power Adapter

A power adapter is required should you not have a PoE (Power over Ethernet) network connection. There are a few phone models that require a power adapter (often large touchscreen phones and the base/cradle for a handheld/wireless phones).

The IP phone should be used with Yealink original power adapter only. The use of the third-party  power adapter may cause the damage to the phone. If you are connecting a PC to your phone, we recommend that you use the Ethernet cable provided by Yealink. If inline power(PoE) is provided, you don’t need to connect the power adapter. Make sure the hub/switch is PoE-compliant. See the power adaptor requirements below.

Booting/Turning On Your Phone

Once you have properly assembled your phone and connected all of the required connections, your phone will start it's boot up process. During the booting process the phone will automatically connect to the Penguin servers and will be provisioned (programmed with the correct extension and key assignments). This booting and provisioning process may take 1-2 minutes.

How Do I Know If My Phone Is Working?

Now that my phone has finished booting, how do I know if it is working? You will see the phone's assigned extension(s). You will also see any assigned keys. On a phone with monochrome screen you will see an icon of a phone on-hook. On phones with color screens you will see this same phone on-hook image, but it will be green.

Monochrome Phone Registered (2 extensions - 109 & 104-P...)
Color Phone Registered (1 extension - 108)

Now What?

Try making and receiving  calls to familiarize yourself with using your phone.
