Rebooting Phones

How to reboot phones

Follow the steps below when you are instructed to reboot your phone(s). There are a small set of infrequent reasons why you may need to reboot your phone, such as unexplained behavior with headsets and BLF light synchronization. There are multiple ways to reboot phones. Choose the most convenient and available method.


Method 1 - Power Over Ethernet

This method for rebooting your phone is an option only if your phone receives it's power through a power over ethernet (POE).  You will know this is an available option for you if 1) there is NOT a power adapter connected on the back of the phone, 2) and the phone is receiving it's power through the networking cable as illustrated in the following image.


Method 2 - Power Adapter

This method for rebooting your phone is an option only if your phone receives it's power through a power adapter. You will know this is an available option for you if there is a power adapter connected on the back of the phone, as illustrated in the following image.


Method 3 - Button Long-press

Press and hold (long press approximately 4 seconds) the navigation Cancel button  while the phone is idle. Most Yealink phone models have this button. 


A few models, like the Yealink T57W do not have the navigation buttons. On these models press and hold the * key on the keypad.



Method 4 - Menu

This method is always available regardless of how the phone receives it's power. Each phone will have a this available in the menus illustrated below, or very similar. The reboot action in the menu can be different depending on the make and model of the phone. See the table below for the most common locations of the reboot action and the steps to reboot that phone model. You will see the Reboot action is in a very similar location for each Yealink model. Follow the menu settings that match your Yealink phone model.

Yealink T54W (and similar)
Yealink T48S (and similar)
Yealink T42S (and similar)
Yealink DECT Handset
1. Select Menu




2. Select Basic (or 6 on keypad)




3. Select Reboot (or 10 on keypad)




4. Select Enter




5. Select OK to confirm reboot




The phone will now reboot



1. Select Menu



2. Select Basic (or 6 on keypad)



3. Scroll down on the left-side menu and Select Reboot 




4. Select Reboot in the right-side of the phone screen




5. Select OK to confirm reboot




The phone will now reboot

1. Select Menu




2. Select Settings (or 3 on keypad)




3. Select Basic Settings (or 1 on keypad)




4. Select Reboot (or 9 on keypad)




5. Select OK to confirm reboot




The phone will now reboot
















1. Press and hold (long press approximately 2 seconds) the Power/End Call key while the handset is idle and while the handset is NOT in the charging cradle.




The handset will now reboot
