Understanding Call Flows

Call Flows are the handling of incoming calls. Call Flows are automatic in their routing of calls. The most common configuration is based on day and time per phone number called. For illustration, below we see a phone call during business hours will ring extensions 100 through 110 simultaneously. But, after hours the phone call is routed to extension 105's voicemail.

Manual Override A Call Flow

It is possible to manually override a Call Flow. Imagine the example where you will close the office early this Friday. How do manually override the existing open hours Call Flow? Penguin engineers can create a manual override that you can toggle on and off at anytime the need arises. Contact Penguin for any Call Flow changes.
Call Flows do not exist by default. To have any Call Flows created, contact Penguin to discuss your specific Call Flow needs.

Below is how the Call Flow could look using the day/night mode concept.

We generally program this manual override with the dial code *30 as "Day Mode/Night Mode". Once configured, you can dial *30 to toggle day mode and night mode. A button can be programmed on desktop phones for one-key press toggle, with visual indicator of the toggle status. In the image below we see the Call Flow is in night mode by the red person icon. With dialing *30 or a programmed button, you will always hear an audio prompt of the newly toggled status.

If you have manually overridden your open hours by enabling a "night mode" Call Flow, you must manually toggle the Call Flow back to "day mode" when you are ready for your standard open hours to resume.
