Connecting Your Polycom VVX 400 Series Phone

Basic set up of your Polycom VVX 400 series phone includes
  • Connecting the handset
  • Connecting the phone to a power source, if needed
  • Connecting the phone to your network
Additional connections include
  • Daisy chaining the phone and a computer
  • Connecting an expansion module



Accessing Ports on the Back of the Phone

The ports used during setup are on the back of the phone.

Connecting the Handset


  1. Plug the jack closest to the straight end of the cord into the handset port on the back of the phone.
  2. Thread the straight end of the cord through the channel in the phone.
  3. Plug the other end of the cord into the port on the handset.

Connecting to external Power supply, if Necessary

If your phone has a non-POE (Power over Ethernet) connection, plug the AC power cord jack into the 48V port on the back of the phone and into a power source.

Connecting to Your Network

Plug an Ethernet cable into the port marked with the Ethernet symbol (Ethernet symbol.png) on the back of the phone and connect to your network.

Connecting an Expansion Module


  1. Plug one end of the short cord supplied with the expansion module into the Aux port on the phone.
  2. Plug the other end of the short cord supplied with the expansion module into the Aux 1 port on the expansion module.
  3. Insert the small metal bracket into the channels on the back of the phone.
  4. Secure the metal bracket with the thumbscrews.


Note.pngIf the holes in the bracket do not align with the thumbscrew holes, turn it around

Daisy Chaining to a Computer


Once your phone is connected to the network via the Ethernet port (Ethernet symbol.png) on the back of the phone
  1. Plug one end of a second Ethernet cable into the port with the computer icon Computer symbol.png on the phone.
  2. Plug the other end of the second Ethernet cable into the computer.
