Outbound Caller ID

Outbound Caller ID

Penguin's Caller ID editor updates the Caller ID information on multiple telecom networks nationwide - not just ours. Because of this, please ensure that the information you provide is accurate and truthful. Additionally, because we are updating the records on multiple networks, the propagation can take a some time. Please allow for 30 days for the Caller ID to be propagated through telecom networks.

Please note - this does not update all networks. Many networks choose to not keep updated records and are holding stale data. They do this to save money and effort. Additionally, many networks do not subscribe to nationally recognized databases and choose to maintain their own data. In both of these cases your Caller ID may still be outdated.

Outbound Caller ID Delivery

When Penguin receives properly formatted calls, we pass that information along to our interconnecting peers. Depending on the party you are trying to call, the time of day, network congestion, etc, this data may be stripped on the way to its destination. It is important to remember that many carriers (especially in the US) charge for this data, and will intentionally not deliver it unless the party you are calling has Caller ID enabled. Most US-based cell phone providers disregard this data entirely and won't send it to your cell phone, even if you have Caller ID enabled.

If your end-user is reporting that they are receiving reports of out-of-date Caller ID and you have followed all of the steps above, then the only solution is for the end user to have the party they called request support from their own phone provider. This is because that provider is either not honoring the Caller ID data, or is holding stale data.

We are not able to guarantee that the data you send us will arrive at its destination, and Outbound Caller ID Delivery is a "Best Effort" service.
